This is VyByN LLC's written policy establishing our retention schedule and our guidelines for permanently destroying biometric identifiers and biometric information. It is published here, publicly and without needing an account, because it must be available before any biometric data is collected.
Video verification is optional and always has been. You can create an account, build a profile, match, message, add money, split a date and withdraw your balance without ever using it. We do not make it a condition of anything, and we will not.
Only if you choose the optional video verification step, and only after you have read the notice in the app and affirmatively agreed to it:
Your existing primary profile photo is used as the comparison image. Its facial geometry is measured against the video's to check that they are the same person. You cannot begin video verification without a primary profile photo on your account.
Two purposes, and no others:
We do not use facial geometry to identify you anywhere else, we do not use it for advertising or profiling, and we do not sell, lease, trade or otherwise profit from it.
These periods are enforced by automated jobs that run on a schedule. They are not requests you have to make.

The consent record is kept because destroying it would destroy the evidence that you were asked and that you agreed. It contains the wording you were shown and when you accepted it. It does not contain biometric data.
Your biometric data is permanently destroyed on whichever of these comes first:
The video and still frame are stored in a private storage bucket with versioning switched off, so a deletion leaves no earlier version behind. They are never served through our content delivery network, so there is no cached copy anywhere to outlive the deletion. The measurements are overwritten with empty values in our database.
Our live systems and our backups are erased on different schedules. A record may persist in a backup for up to 8 days after it is erased from our live systems, after which the backup containing it is destroyed.
The facial-geometry analysis is performed by Amazon Web Services acting as our processor, under contract, on our instruction. They do not use it for their own purposes. No other person or company receives your biometric data. We do not disclose it except where a law, a warrant or a subpoena compels us to, and we will not sell, lease or trade it in any circumstance.

This policy carries a version number, shown at the top of the page and recorded with your consent. If we change it materially, the version changes, and anyone who consented to an earlier version is asked again before any further biometric data is collected from them. Consent to an earlier version is never carried across.
